Nick talks to CEO Today about trust

Are brands helping to fuel a polarised society? Airbnb and Ebay have evolved surveillance capitalism into an economy of mistrust, Nick wrote in a recent article for CEO Today. Trust seems to be in short supply - with online communities based around the assumption that people cannot be trusted, creating spaces where people are encouraged to act as judge, jury and executioner.

But Instagram looks set to step forward as the surprise hero of the day. The social platform is trialling hidden like counts, making us focus on the quality of the content shared - rather than fixating on popularity and the number of likes. Twitter isn't far behind, saying they want to rethink the platform's focus on likes and retweets as a measure of success.
